Requirements
Open to Any Exhibitor
A collection of THREE types of vegetables from the following:
Carrots (3), Cauliflowers (2), Onions (3), Parsnips (3), Peas (6 pods),
Potatoes (3), Runner beans (6 pods), Tomatoes (6), French Beans (6 pods),
Sweetcorn (2), Peppers (2), Cucumbers (2), Courgettes (3), Red Beet (3), Aubergines (2).
Each type of vegetable will be judged out of a total of 20 points: 7 for size, shape and colour; 6 for uniformity; 7 for condition. Possible total of 60 marks.
All vegetables are to be displayed for effect, within an area measuring 46 x 61cm (18”x 24”) without bending any part of them. No part of the exhibit may exceed the size of the tray area. If a board/tray is used, the inner display measurement should be as above. A black cloth is permitted or the tray may be painted.
Parsley may be used as garnish but no other foliage or accessories.
Onion tops may be tied or whipped using raffia or string. Carrots and parsnips must have foliage trimmed to 7.5cm (3”). Peas and beans must be displayed with some stalk attached. Tomatoes must be displayed with calyces.
Tray/board must not be cut or mutilated in any way – such as cutting holes in which to stand onions.
Judge may handle exhibits, open pods, etc. to check for quality.
Points awarded will be clearly marked on the exhibitors’ cards.
